Project Overviewx
The CUBIX North Park Apartments in Seattle, Washington are micro-apartments. The site location was nestled among several other multi-story buildings just off Seattle’s busy Aurora Avenue North.
The design team designed 93 micro-studios. The structure was contained in 36 boxes. The team organized the boxes parallel to the corridor: six studios across two boxes and a cantilevered corridor. This efficiency reduced the site framing and with studios measuring 11’4″ wide each, they were situated parallel to the corridor. This reduced the box count and transportation costs by 38%. This innovative design required fewer exterior mate lines which reduced the dry-in time after an 8-day set.
NextGen Housing Parters relied on Accuset Construction to provide specialized equipment and to manage the craning and modular installation for this unusual project. The minimimal dual crane moves enabled Accuset Construction to compress the installation and set schedule to a remarkable eight days.
